When I joined Green Thumb in June 2019, I knew virtually nothing about cannabis. Previously I’d worked for Sam’s Club for 15 years, 12 of which as a supervisor in the meat section. I wanted to move on, and a former colleague told me about GTI. The long-term career prospects attracted me, and I liked the idea of doing work that can really help people.
Cannabis is a unique industry to work in as it’s still new and has a bad reputation in some circles, so there is an unwanted and undeserved stigma.
I see it as part of my job to “bridge” that stigma, because I’ve seen how medical cannabis can help people. To me it’s very personal, because my mum has an auto-immune disease. I watch her suffer every day, so being able to help her get a medical marijuana card and show her what products to choose is very meaningful for me.

Arizona Just Legalized Recreational Cannabis, Opening The Door To A $790 Million Market For Major Marijuana Firms
Arizona became one of four states to legalize cannabis for all adults, after voters passed a ballot initiative that would make marijuana legal for everyone over the age of 21.
The measure has the support of almost 60% of Arizona voters, according to preliminary results from Decision Desk HQ.
Every state that voted on cannabis on Tuesday loosened restrictions on the drug. Four states legalized cannabis for all adults (New Jersey, Arizona, Montana, and South Dakota) and two voted in favor of medical-marijuana programs (South Dakota and Mississippi), according to Decision Desk HQ and the Associated Press.

Most marijuana enthusiasts prefer plain old weed, and it’s pushing cannabis companies to focus on cheap flower over vapes or edibles.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Cannabis consumers in US states where the drug is legal and in Canada still vastly prefer regular old marijuana over fancy new products like edibles, vaporizers, and concentrates, according to new data from cannabis analytics startup Headset exclusively shared with Business Insider.
Aurora just had one of the most disastrous quarters ever for a cannabis company, and analysts say it has an uphill climb to turn things around.

After teasing his 35 million Twitter followers by stating he would say something that would “probably get him into trouble,” Elon Musk said he didn’t understand how some people were still incarcerated for selling marijuana.
In the early hours of Saturday, the Tesla CEO wrote: “Selling weed literally went from a major felony to essential business (open during a pandemic) in much of America & yet many are still in prison. Doesn’t make sense, isn’t right.”
But his followers didn’t seem to be too bothered by his opinion, with many saying he was stating the obvious. One follower responded by tweeting: “Why do you think this will get you in trouble?”

I Manage a 100,000-Square-Foot Cannabis Growing Facility. Here Are 5 Management Tricks I Learned About Keeping Employees Motivated

Believe it or not, cannabis cultivation has been around for over 10,000 years. Yet those of us in the burgeoning legalized industry have just over a decade of experience to draw upon — from early “Wild West” days to adhering to today’s strict state-mandated regulations. The challenges we face in building a productive operation are many, not the least of which is how to best nurture the plant itself. However, one of the biggest factors is how we manage our people. There’s no substitute for tangible human relations, no matter how much you’ve invested in equipment, structures, and technology. At the end of the day, this business is based on the direct relationship between the plant and the people.
People are drawn to the cannabis industry for many reasons. For me, it was the chance to continue to work with a plant I love and to remove my family’s fear of me ending up in jail. When I started cultivating in Florida, we faced mandatory minimum sentences. Now, my job as a manager is to nurture the passion and enthusiasm of the people who work here. Here are five things I learned about keeping people excited, motivated, and engaged with what they do while managing a 100,000 square foot cannabis grow facility.

With cannabis and CBD becoming multibillion-dollar industries, it was only a matter of time before they teamed up with another lucrative industry: real estate.
Early this month, Rodeo Realty partnered with Society Group PR and the Mota Group — a members-only club for cannabis creatives — to hold what they say is the first-ever “cannabis open house.”
At a $3.5 million home for sale in Los Angeles, 100 guests gathered for an event called “The Greenleaf Cannabis Laboratory.” The open-house event featured cannabis-infused chocolates, gummies, and other edibles, kombucha cocktails, vape pens, and CBD cream massages. Hemp plants and marijuana paraphernalia were staged around the home.
