Everyone struggles to some extent with past trauma and resulting difficult emotions. For many, the past year has exacerbated these feelings. We’re all trying to find ways to cope with these challenging times and cannabis assisted emotional recovery is a powerful, yet underused tool.

Cannabis’ ability to facilitate brain and nervous system reorganization and healing aligns closely with the established benefits of meditation – and for many combining both together amplifies and accelerates the healing process. Cannabis itself isn’t the solution, it’s more like a mental lubricant that lets people get in touch with their subconscious.

“The cannabis helped me focus so I don’t have a racing brain during meditation and can focus on what is really bothering me,” said Garfield, one of my clients. “I now realize the power of mediation and talking and listening to my heart.”

The reason that cannabis assisted emotional recovery works is that it addresses the root cause of sadness, anger, fear, guilt and shame. And it is finding and dealing with the underlying cause that allows people to finally alleviate their pain.

While we often think of trauma as physical abuse or a horrific event, trauma doesn’t need to be big and dramatic to leave scars. There is no human that hasn’t experienced a traumatic event whether it was a verbally abusive relationship, being bullied as a child or working at a job where efforts are never rewarded. We unconsciously carry these hurts with us and when a situation triggers us we blow up. Once we know what our pain points really are they can be addressed and diffused. The result is a life with less stress, reactive behavior, and less pain.
