Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) said during his State of the State speech that he will work with lawmakers to legalize marijuana this year.

As Rhode Island’s Senate president takes steps to prepare a marijuana legalization bill, he’s criticizing Gov. Gina Raimondo’s (D) plan for sales in state-run stores. Meanwhile, another lawmaker is putting “a good 95% chance” on legal cannabis passing in 2021.

A Virginia delegate filed a new bill to legalize marijuana. Gov. Ralph Northam (D) recently got on board with legalizing cannabis, making the state one of the most likely to enact reform this year.

Dozens of Iowa Democratic elected officials—state lawmakers, mayors, county commissioners, and more—held a press conference to announce plans to push for marijuana legalization in 2021.

New Jersey Senate and Assembly committees approved a bill to address Gov. Phil Murphy’s (D) concerns about marijuana legalization legislation provisions concerning possession by underage people. Floor votes are expected on Monday.

Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services tweeted that “#Hemp is blazing a trail among Florida agriculturists” and touted the cultivation permits it has issued.

A Texas judge delayed a hearing in a lawsuit challenging the state’s ban on smokable hemp.

The State Bar of South Dakota issued a second ethics opinion reinforcing its view that lawyers cannot provide legal services to marijuana businesses.

Kentucky representatives filed a medical cannabis bill and a resolution calling for expedited marijuana research.

A Nebraska senator introduced a resolution to place a marijuana legalization constitutional amendment on the 2022 ballot

A Missouri lawmaker filed legislation to defelonize drug possession.

Washington State regulators adopted rules on vitamin E acetate, marijuana licenses and other issues.

Arkansas regulators began accepting applications for medical cannabis processing and transport licenses.

Michigan regulators published a bulletin on annual financial statements required from marijuana businesses.

Oregon regulators published an updated list of licensed marijuana retailers.
