As many businesses struggle through the COVID-19 pandemic, one business owner in Spenard said she is doing better than ever. MoMo’s Bakery makes marijuana edibles that are sold to Alaska cannabis businesses. Owner Maureen Eberhardt said that in recent months, their sales have nearly doubled.

“It’s amazing because here it’s not even the tourist season and we are making record. Every week has been a record,” she said.

Eberhardt said she is grateful that cannabis businesses were deemed “essential” during the pandemic and did not have to shut down. She attributed high sales in part to people who are anxious and looking for a way to relax.
