‘Dynamic’ Getty Fire in Los Angeles drives more evacuations in California; Kincade Fire continues as Dramatic drive by footage of Getty fire on hills of Los Angeles The Los Angeles Fire Department is announcing the repopulation of some areas impacted by the Getty Fire. Effective October 30, 2019 at 5:00PM, Mandatory Evacuation orders and Warnings are lifted, with the exception of the RED areas in the map above. The only areas remaining under Mandatory Evacuation are within these borders: West border: Kenter Avenue South border: Sunset Boulevard North border: Area just south of Mountaingate Avenue East border: Area adjacent to Sepulveda Boulevard and the 405 Freeway NOTE: 405 Freeway is open in both directions. Sepulveda Boulevard northbound is open to all traffic. Sepulveda Boulevard southbound from Skirball Center Drive to Sunset Boulevard is presently open to residents with I.D. only. The map above can be used to determine if a property is in an area that can be repopulated or remains closed. The Getty Fire Incident Command continues to monitor the affected fire areas, as well as those areas remaining closed due to critical infrastructure concerns or safety hazards. The Los Angeles Police Department will have a strong presence in the repopulated and evacuated areas for the next several days to ensure the protection of residents and their property. FIRE INITIALLY REPORTED: Monday, October 28, 2019 1:34 AM PDT LOCATION: 1800 North Sepulveda Boulevard, Brentwood, Los Angeles, California INCIDENT TYPE: Wildfire SIZE: 745 acres CONTAINMENT: 39% SITUATION: Firefighters worked throughout the day to cool any hot spots and contain any flare ups within the current fire perimeter. Adverse weather conditions will continue to be the greatest challenge for firefighters. An Extreme Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 6:00PM Thursday. Strong Santa Ana winds gusting between 30 and 50 mph will continue to impact wind prone areas of Los Angeles. Widespread single digit relative humidity is forecasted with poor to no overnight recoveries. This all adds up to an extreme fire weather threat, meaning that conditions are as dangerous for fire growth and behavior as we have seen in recent years. FIRE CAUSE: Investigators have determined the preliminary cause of the fire by using burn patterns, witness statements, and physical evidence. The fire was deemed an accidental start,caused by a tree branch that broke off and subsequently landed in nearby powerlines during high wind conditions. This errant tree branch caused the sparking and arcing of powerlines, igniting nearby brush. All powerlines on the pole remained intact. CIVILIAN INJURIES: 0 FIREFIGHTER INJURIES: 1 (non-life threatening) STRUCTURES AFFECTED : 7,091 residences are still considered threatened. 12 residences have been destroyed and 5 residences have been damaged.
