The text of an Arizona marijuana legalization measure that advocates hope to place on the state’s 2020 ballot was filed with the secretary of state.

Idaho’s secretary of state cleared a proposed 2020 medical cannabis initiative for signature gathering.

A scientific review examined marijuana components’ “tumor inhibiting and suppressing properties” and concluded the results “warrant reconsidering legality of the substance.”

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), a presidential candidate, touted her legislation to deschedule marijuana during an appearance at the Iowa State Fair.

Former Housing and Urban Development Sen. Julian Castro (D), a presidential candidate, spoke about his support for legalizing marijuana during a campaign stop in Iowa.

Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D), a presidential candidate, said that his state has shown marijuana legalization can work.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld (R), a presidential candidate, spoke about CBD during a speech in Iowa.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed a hemp bill into law.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) toured a hemp farm.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) tweeted, “DC: It’s time to legalize marijuana. For years, marijuana possession has been a pipeline to prison for people of color. We must replace that pipeline with jobs, equity, and pathways to prosperity.”

Iowa’s attorney general tweeted about the legality of CBD products.

Two separate Florida hemp advisory boards are locked in a power struggle.

Missouri regulators awarded a contract to a company to review and score marijuana business license applications.

Three companies not awarded Utah medical cannabis cultivation licenses are asking the state’s Procurement Policy Board to consider appeals.

A Michigan working group is examining areas of potential reform in the state’s marijuana laws.

Marijuana business owner Wanda James was appointed to the Colorado Tourism Office board. Separately, the state’s Retail Marijuana Public Health Advisory Committee will meet on August 19.

The Illinois Municipal League is asking lawmakers to clarify aspects of the state’s marijuana legalization law.

A study found that  an oral formulation containing highly purified cannabidiol “was safe and tolerable for use and demonstrated a potent seizure-reducing effect among pediatric patients with [treatment-resistent epilepsy].”

A study involving mice and THC-infused dough found that “dough was well-consumed, but consumption decreased at the highest THC concentrations” and that “edible THC produced dose-dependent decreases in locomotor activity and body temperature in both sexes, and these effects were more pronounced in male mice.”
