Let's Talk: Chest Pain

Can we get to the bottom of this very annoying and seemingly widespread issue of chest pain with marijuana use? Here is a list of similarities I've compiled from others:

  1. Age range 16 - 30
  2. EKG always normal.
  3. Frequent smoker for 1-6 years prior.
  4. One instance of sharp chest pain enough to send many to the ER.
  5. From then on, any consumption of thc (herb, vape, edible, etc) causes chest pain commonly described as burning, squeezing, aching, or tightness on the left side of the chest.
  6. In some people (like myself) this chest pain exists on a daily basis even after quitting smoking.

Diagnoses:

Although the first WebMD result comes up as Heart Attack, people going through this particular problem are not experiencing anything life-threatening.

  1. Anxiety: https://www.innovativelifestyles.co/alternative-routes/the-complete-guide-to-marijuana-induced-anxiety-and-panic-attacks
  2. Acid Reflux: https://www.steadyhealth.com/articles/marijuana-and-an-acid-reflux-diet-does-smoking-pot-make-your-heartburn-worse
  3. Tietze's Syndrome: https://www.medicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-treatments-cannabis-uses/tietze%C2%92s-syndrome/
  4. Costochondritis: https://www.rollitup.org/t/costochondritis.397929/

I wanted to open the floor, hear any suggestions or success stories with this problem.

In my experience, the response is generally a dismissive "calm down, you're anxious" reply. However, I have spent time practicing meditation, calm breathing, and still experience pain even while on xanax.
